A professor, a failed test and a private lesson

Yes Professor opens in a college English course with a problem of attention. The man cannot follow the lesson because the lesson is Mrs. Bree Whitlock, and she has noticed. She keeps him after class, tells him he failed because he spent the hour watching her instead of the board, and sets a condition: if he wants a private lesson, it is nine o'clock tonight, just the two of them. The retake is tomorrow with the rest of the course, which gives the night session its pressure.

Episodes 1 and 2: the lesson and its rule

Episode 1 is the after-class scene. She calls out the staring, makes him say the two words that give the series its title, and sends him off, only to catch him still looking. It ends on the invitation. Episode 2 starts with him arriving late and taking a seat. The lesson mixes a passage to read aloud with strict instructions, and she names her own risk: "My husband thinks I'm grading papers." The episode stops on the one answer she wants to hear from him.

Two words carry the series

The rule fits in two words, and the writing knows it: set in episode 1, tested in episode 2 and left hanging where the free pair stops. That economy suits episodes of a minute. Mrs. Whitlock is written as a woman with a lot to lose, since a husband at home believes she is grading papers, and that gives the lesson a pulse a simple dare would lack.
